The right fit…

Building the right team has Likely never been an easy pursuit.

We have been fortunate to work with some amazingly sharp, Kind, and dedicated people at honeycream. I’m proud to have been able to get to know them.

This said, I am Increasingly Concerned about the type of work culture we’ve built here in the u.S..

as a culture, we have increasingly devalued work to increasingly value self, teaching individuals to run at the first sign of boredom or adversity. can You imagine anything great being achieved if we ran instead of facing adversity?

At one time, a good job was highly valued and revered. I’m not proposing we go backwards to a time where individuals were not valued. rather, we should esteem jobs and Individuals in balance.

Our people, all of us at this time in the U.S., are so condoned and coddled and entitled as individuals that we have not built into our people any form of grit, resiliency, or appreciation of the value of a job or work.

as for me, I like work and working. I cannot imagine a life without a job with some sort of regular schedule, with balance. having time for varying pursuits outside of work is naturally a good thing, too, as “all work and no play….”well, you know the rest.

none of us wants to work where we will never be valued. We give and receive. however, individuals need to have some resiliency and stay power to overcome many obstacles.

much good in this world requires overcoming. in facing difficulty we often find ourselves growing stronger and gaining greater rewards. expecting otherwise is unrealistic folly.

to Undervalue service and overvalue self is wrong. After all, work is a service we provide as a trade for another’s service.

the concerns I have apply not only in the workplace, but also to all types of relationships. We need more balance.
